In 2018, following 8 years of ongoing austerity and cuts to social services, the UK government appointed the first ever ‘Minister for Loneliness’, officially acknowledging the negative effects that loneliness and isolation have on our mental and physical wellbeing. This marked the first of a growing global commitment to tackling this problem.

Packed full of low frequency energy, sci-fi synth tones and rich sonic textures, Off-Switch Audio are happy to present Minister for Loneliness, the second full-length EP from Yahoo Yahoo Training School.

The first half of this EP crafts angsty energies with electronic intricacies, boasting heavy bass design arranged throughout highly dense percussive patterns. The second two tracks create a more melancholic and thoughtful tone, with silky ambiences and soothing sub-bass subtleties.

These four conceptual club tools are built for the listener, the dancer and the DJ alike.

Born in Turkey as Mehmet Irdel, Yahoo Yahoo Training School is an alias of the NYC based artist better known as Løt.te. The title of the alias refers to where the Nigerian Yahoo Boys are trained to scam people online, and the project explores how technology can transcend barriers of class, location and generation. Mehmet’s interest in internet scammers, is rooted in what this phenomenon reveals about the residual effects of colonialism, the epidemic of loneliness in the west, and the power of the internet to connect people across geographies and cultures, for better and for worse.
